Sarah Edwards first qualified as a Social Worker in 2009 and started work as a newly qualified Social Worker in a 16+ team within a local authority in the Eastern Region. Then taking on the role of a Social Worker within a Looked After Children’s Unit before progressing to a Team Manager role in 2015 of a 18+ Leaving Care Service.

In 2017, she took on the role of Team Manager within a specialist unaccompanied asylum seeking children’s team and she continued this role until June 2019. In June 2019, she made the decision to become an independent social worker and has practised as such since then.

Throughout her Social Work career, Sarah has worked alongside children claiming asylum. She has undertaken the role of initial enquires at the point of entry in the UK, completed Merton compliant age assessments, supported young people to settle within the UK and complete their asylum claim as well as completing Human Rights assessments following claims being refused and appeals denied.
